I was leaving home forever. I wasn’t terribly sad, though. After all, it wasn’t as if I were going to a mission outpost in a South American jungle. I felt like a bride must feel on her wedding day, nostalgic for the security, the love and comforts of home, but happy to be with the one I love. As I stood at the imposing entrance to my new home I shook with fright. I remembered how dark the interior of the convent seemed the few times I had been inside the reception area, the parlor and the chapel. But I never had even a peek beyond the mysterious double doors, closed to the outside world! What exactly was behind them? I would soon find out….. And so will you when you read my book. If you are curious, if you know little or nothing about nuns, you will be enlightened. If you attended a Catholic parochial school you might understand better the sometimes-tough discipline that went along with an excellent education. Religious women and men who read my story might well enjoy my poignant walk down memory lane, my “Inside Journey” of 60 years.
